What does open source mean?
Open source software (OSS) is software whose source code is publicly accessible and can be freely used, modified, and distributed by the community. Unlike traditional software solutions, whose source code is protected, open source development enables transparent, collaborative development in which everyone can participate.
The problem with the independence of other countries
One of the biggest problems in choosing software solutions is independence, especially with regard to data protection and ownership of the data, but also that it cannot be read, such as company secrets.
Open source is ideally suited for this. Since open source can be further developed and is independent of a traditional software company, it offers an ideal alternative.

The ideal solution?
There is no ideal open source solution, but there are certainly open source projects that offer the option of extensions for more demanding requirements, allowing the purchase of licenses that then, for example, close critical security vulnerabilities. Another option is to monitor open source solutions using log systems and software solutions that check for vulnerabilities.
